Solid and Papillary Epithelial Neoplasm of the Pancreas

Abstract
|
|
|
One of the pathologic characteristics of solid and papillary epithelial neoplasm of the pancreas is the capsule. In 8 cases of solid and papillary epithelial neoplasm of the pancreas, a capsule was identified on ultrasonography, specimen sonography and computed tomography. We found tumor capsule in 3 cases out of 6 cases in ultrasonogram and 5 cases out of 6 cases in computed tomography.
The specimen sonography also showed echogenic wall along the tumor edge and this was a capsule in pathologic specimen. The capsule identification is considered one of the diagnostic signs of solid and papillary epithelial neoplasm.
